We played 3 full 9-inning games opening day! We were too baked to remember the scores, but a few pix (courtesy of Spunky) of the fun can be found here:

It was a perfect day for whiffle. Warm with only the teeniest breeze. The players were Boss, Steiny, Jiffy, Doran, and Verbila. The Nurse showing up briefly and played in the beginning of the first game, and TTC Doc even fielded for roughly 17 seconds. But for the first game (9 innings) it was basically us 5. So we made a rule that when it's 3 against 2, the team with 3 people has to send a guy to the other team to play defense. And you really have to try when you play for the other team.
Highlights: The naming of The Cat (The Silent Killer) [Doran]. The dubbing of the Thorny Abyss, The Allergy Zone, and The Junkyard. Thrifty's first home run!
Idea: An egg timer for the "foul out into the neighbor's yard" rule. As soon as the ball goes out, hit the egg timer and if it dings before the ball hits the field or a defensive player catches it, it's a foul tip strike. Otherwise an out, of course.
In the bottom of the 9th Sandman and Paddy showed up, so now the teams were 3 to 3 (Sandman became The Commish).
The final score of the first game was 24 to 15 (Steiny and The Cat).
Second game: a 6 inning game

The Kernel was robbed of a 4 run homer in the final inning of the game. It sailed almost over the house, but hit a small pole on the roof and fell back only to be caught for the final out. Damn! It was a gorgeous hit and would have put us 18-17. These wiffle games can be really close! Azer-BUH!! 6/25/00
